As a part of Mother’s Day this year we ran an appeal to raise funds for Compassion’s Mums and Babies Project. Compassion work with local churches to support mothers and babies in the first year of life, a very critical time for those living in poverty. Too many children die in the first month of life, where the risk is doubled compared to here in Australia. And of the women who die due to childbirth complications 99% are in poverty-stricken countries. This project through Compassion ensures mother’s receive regular support, care and life skills equipping.
We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. With our dollar-for-dollar matching Mother’s Day appeal we raised enough to support 29 women and babies through this project. That’s 58 people impacted through the love in action of all of you.
